GNOWANGERUP FOOTBALL CLUB Gnowangerup have been a force to be reckoned with in recent seasons. They claimed a premiership in 2015 thanks to a 9.12 (66) to 8.6 (54) grand final defeat of Newdegate. The following season saw the same two sides playing off on grand final day with the result reversed, the Lions cruising to victory by 58 points. Then, in 2017, the Bulldogs procured their third senior grade premiership when they accounted for the grand final challenge of Boxwood Hill by 15 points, 13.8 (86) to 10.11 (71). A year later the same two teams confronted one another in the decisive match of the season but on this occasion the Bombers proved comfortably too strong and cruised home by 68 points. This was followed by a fourth place finish in 2019 and a winning grand final against Boxwood Hill in 2020. Underdogs going into the match, the Bulldogs managed just a solitary goal in the first half and trailed by 22 points at the main break. Thereafter, however, they enjoyed consummate superiority, adding 14 goals to one of the remaining to quarters to emerge victorious by 55 points, 15.11 (101) to 7.4 (46). |

Mick Cuneo “The ‘68 team is considered by some, since the Bulldogs 1953 Premiership year in the Tambellup Football Association as the strongest to represent the club. In this era the CGSNFL was very strong along with most country football leagues in West Australia. From memory the Bulldogs team for the ‘68 semi final looked something like this; Backs: K. Johnston, C. Nicholas, R Staz. Half Backs: P Bacich, R Sammy, E Burley. Half Forwards: P Farmer, M Whittington, G Parker. Forwards: J Osiejak, F Johnston, B Howard. Rucks: B Gardner , G Devitt, D Marshall. Res: R Crawley, G Hinkley. I think Peter Johnston was a National Serviceman at this stage, otherwise he would’ve been in the team?”
